Proverbs 29:18. “Where there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restraint, but blessed is he who keeps the law.”
O God of All Grace, we bow before you in humble adoration of your greatness. In old times, you spoke through your prophets to the people of your call to righteousness. There were times when the people heard and obeyed. But when there was no prophet, the people lost restraint and gave in to their fallen natures.
Today, when the pulpit is compromising in what your word says, the people follow the same pattern of ancient Israel. Truth becomes blurred. Error arises. The church is weakened. Lives are lost.
But those who live out their faith in Christ are blessed to live in harmony with you and with others. Help us all to hear and heed your laws of life.
Amen.
