Daily Prayer: 08/01

“Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring. Let another praise you, and not your own mouth; someone else, and not your own lips.” Proverbs 27:1,2.Father in Heaven, our futures are in your sovereign hands. We do not know the future and cannot affect it’s course. One day can change everything. One event can alter all of our plans. One breath can be our last.

We pray that we will not be arrogant and boastful about ourselves or our futures. You want us to be confident but humble about what is before us. You want us to be certain but graceful about our own abilities.

Our prayer today is for those who do not value the time that is allotted to them. Our life spans are so short and the timeliness of life events is so crucial. Our biological clocks are ticking. We must get our education when it is timely, have our families, and develop our careers when we are ready. We must live for today and not for tomorrow. We are allowed the day of salvation and should not push it into the future. May this one who pauses for prayer make full use of this day through Christ our Lord.

Amen.
