Mrs. Barbara Ann McDaris Stephens: Obituary

Mrs. Barbara Ann McDaris Stephens, age 83 of Morganton, passed away Friday, July 3, 2015 at the Cameron Hall in Ellijay. Barbara was born March 28, 1932 in Blairsville, GA to the late Blaine McDaris and the late Dellah Byrd McDaris. A devoted Christian, she was a pillar in the community and an involved member of Temple Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was a retired Fannin County teacher and she also served as Mayor of Morganton for over 12 years. She was preceded in death by husband James Veach Stephens.

Survivors include: son, Bill (Shannon) Stephens, daughter, Deana (Donald) Moss, daughter, Doris (Tom) Reins, eight grandchildren, Josh Stephens, Jordan (Catherine) Stephens, Connor Stephens, William Stephens, Cole Stephens, Caitlin (Cosbie) Hollenbeck, Bailey Reins, and Turner Reins and one great-granddaughter, Everly Hollenbeck.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Temple Baptist Church with Dr. Roger Beck and Rev. Danny Parris officiating. Music provided by Greg Norton. Interment will follow in the Morganton Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers include Robert Craig, Tim McDaris, Steve Love, John Stephens, Joe Owenby, and John Querry.

The family will receive friends at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home Monday evening from 6-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Cameron Hall Assisted Living Activities Fund, Attn: Jake Osaer, 114 Penland St., Ellijay, GA 30540.
