George Edward Godfrey, age 71, of Blue Ridge, GA passed away Sunday, July 5, 2015. Mr. Godfrey was born in Harlan County, Kentucky to the late Howard Rastus and Bonnie Mae Stiles Godfrey. He was the Owner and Operator with the City Shoe Repair in Blue Ridge working as a Cobbler for a number of years. He was a member of Victory Temple Holiness Church.
He is survived by a brother, Larry Godfrey of Murphy, NC; sister, Gale Adams of Toccoa, GA; nephew, David Adams of Cumming, GA; niece, Autumn Pruitt of Toccoa, GA; great nephews, Alex Adams, Jason Adams and Jacob Pruitt.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, July 8th at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Reid Nicholson officiating. Music will be provided by Joel and Randall Nicholson. Pallbearers will be David Adams, Tim Pruitt, Billy Decker, Jerry Decker, Kevin Franklin, and Sonny Dills. Jim Allen will serve as an Honorary Pallbearer. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Grove cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Condolences to the family may be sent to www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
