Joint Clay/Cherokee County Operations Nets Drugs and Arrests

JOINT CLAY/CHEROKEE COUNTY OPERATIONS NETS DRUGS AND ARRESTS

Murphy, NC— Clay County Sheriff Vic Davis and Cherokee County Sheriff Derrick Palmer announced the February 18th, 2015 arrest of 41 year old Clay County man William Allen Blizzard, 21 year old Clay County woman Jacqueline Carol Patterson and 41 year old Linda Michelle Obryan for multiple drug violations.

On or about February 18, 2015 drug investigators with the Clay and Cherokee County Sheriff’s Offices were able to obtain a search warrant for the residence occupied by William Blizzard on Grandview Lane in Hayesville North Carolina. The residence had been the subject of a several month ongoing investigation involving Blizzard and Patterson and Obryan. On February 18, 2015 the investigators were able to put enough information together that enabled them to get a search warrant of the Grandview Lane residence.

During the search of the residence Blizzard ran out of the residence and was later found hiding in a tent behind the residence. Additionally, Obryan provided assistance which enabled Blizzard to escape from the residence just as investigators were attempting to serve the search warrant.

Found during the search of the Grandview lane residence was quantities of Methamphetamine, Valium, Klonipin and Tramadol all substances controlled by the Controlled Substances Act and were being illegally possessed by Blizzard and Patterson who were the occupants of the Grandview Lane residence.

Blizzard, Patterson and Obryan were taken to the Clay County Detention Center and where they were booked and released pending a March 05, 2015 Clay County District Court date.

Sheriff Palmer remarked “We are working at all levels and with many agencies to combat the drug problems. We are in a unique area in that we are so close to three major drug trafficking areas. It takes cooperation at all levels in this fight against drugs.”
