Blanche Madge Wimberley, age 101, of Ducktown, TN passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2015. Mrs. Wimberley was born in Copperhill, TN to the late Gard and Ella Hampton Harper. She was a member of the Mine City Baptist Church and the former owner and operator of the Old Copper Inn Restaurant in Ducktown, where she was a cook. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Glenn Wimberley, Sr; children, Larry Wimberley, Louella Collis; grandchildren, Kathy Collis and Kenny Wimberley; siblings, Reid Harper, T.J.Harper, Minnie Lee Cook, Jimmy Harper, Roy Harper, Jake Simonds, Ken Simonds, Joe Simonds, Frances Simonds and Howard Simonds.
She is survived by son W.G. “Nick” (Shelbia) Wimberley of McCaysville, GA. sister, Jean Carroll of Elberton, GA; Grandchildren,Mark Collis, Glenn Collis, Bruce Collis, Glenda Collis, Greg Collis, Tiffany Wimberley and Tim Wimberely; Six great-grandchildren; Many other friends and relatives also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, February 1st at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Copperhill Chapel with Rev. Matthew McDaniel and Rev. James Howard Galloway officiating. A eulogy will be presented by Nick Wimberley. Music will be by Harry and Katie Gilbert. Pallbearers include Gary Harper, Buddy Harper, Jerry Harper, Derrick Payne, Danny Payne and Darrell Payne. Tommy Quintrell and George McGee will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. Interment will follow in the Mt. Moriah church cemetery in Cherokee County, North Carolina. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Wimberley to the Mt. Moriah cemetery fund c/o of Jack Arp, 44 Forrister Road, Murphy, NC 28906. .The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Condolences to the family may be sent to www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
