Mrs. Betty Killian Holloway: Obituary

Mrs. Betty Killian Holloway, age 78, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2015 in Guardian Angel Home Care in Winder, Georgia.Mrs. Holloway was born in Blairsville on March 26, 1936, a daughter of the late William A. Killian and the late Thelma Williams Killian. In earlier years, Betty had worked for Singer Sewing Machine, but decided to focus on family and being a homemaker. She was the wife of Claxton W. Holloway, who just passed away on December 16, 2014. A very compassionate person, Betty loved animals, and was always taking in strays. She was an outgoing person who never met a stranger. Betty loved to talk and carry on conversations. She was also an avid reader. Betty and Claxton had wonderful flower gardens that they enjoyed, and they loved to watch the hummingbirds that would come to gather the nectar.

Betty will be greatly missed and tenderly remembered – especially by her loving family members: daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Richard Moore, of Winder, Georgia; two grandchildren, Tiffany Aljure, of Seattle, Washington, and David Meyer, of Winder. Besides her parents and her husband Claxton, Betty had been preceded in death by two sisters: Elouise Johnson and Mary Couderc; and two brothers, Vernon Killian and Harold Killian.

A private family memorial service will be held in Winder at a later date.

The family has asked that all memorial contributions be sent in Betty’s memory to The Humane Society’s Mountain Shelter, P. O. Box 1252, Blairsville, GA 30514.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville. Please share your condolences with Betty’s family on our website, www.cochranfuneralhomes.com.
