Mrs. Joan Maynard Compana, age 72 of Blairsville, passed away May 9, 2014 at Wellstar Community Hospice Tranquility.Mrs. Compana was born in Clacton-on-Sea, England to the late Gordon Maynard and the late Sybil Heath Maynard. She was a member of the Liberty Hill United Methodist Church. Joan married the love of her life, Dominic, in England in 1958 and then moved to the United States in 1960. She loved spending time with her husband and she liked taking vacations to the beach.
Survivors include: her husband, Dominic Compana, three daughters, Karen Compana (Paul) Galvin, Debra Anne Compana, and Susan Marie Compana, brother, Brian Maynard, six grandchildren, Jason, Nicholas, Christopher, David, Melissa, and Alexandra, and one great-grandchild Larissa.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 13, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerri Worley officiating. Interment will follow in the Georgia National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 12, 2014 from 6:00 – 9:00 pm at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge.
