Fannin County Chief Magistrate Judge Ronald Newton was killed Sunday afternoon.

Judge Newton was involved in a motorcycle accident on Ga. 60 near Douthit Road in Mineral Bluff, GA.
Newton and his wife, Rita, were riding a motorcycle when struck in a head-on collision by an oncoming car around shortly after noon today.
Rita Newton was injured and taken via Life Flight to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, TN.
FYN has learned she has been stabilized and FYN will update more information when it becomes available.
The driver of the car was identified as 60-year-old Larry Eugene Jones of Morganton.
Jones was not injured, and is being held in the Fannin County Detention Center, with charges pending the completion of the investigation by the Georgia State Patrol.
