Odeis Dockery Hughes Self: Obituary

Mrs. Odeis Dockery Hughes Self, age 88, of the Lifecare Center of Copper Basin passed away Saturday, February 8, 2014. Odeis was a native of the Polk County area and was a daughter of the late Lon and Josie Cearley Dockery. She was a former bus driver with M.A.T.S. and was a member of the Midway Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by husbands, Joseph Hughes and Weldon Self along with five brothers and two sistersShe is survived by children, Steve (Paulette) Hughes of McCaysville, GA, Joe (Marie) Hughes of Mineral Bluff, GA, Sandra (Bill) Towery of Copperhill, TN; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, February 10th at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Copperhill Chapel with Rev. Jack Buchanan officiating. Music will be by Anthony Hughes, Rhonda Hyatt, Loretta Henry and Cindy Petty. Grandsons serving as pallbearers include Anthony Hughes, William Towery, Chase Hyatt, Joe Boggs, Dillon Boggs, Chris Hyatt and Dalton Tankersley. Employees of the Lifecare Center of Copper Basin have been asked to serve as an Honorary Escort. Interment will follow in the Pantertown cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Self may be made to the St Jude Childrens Research Hospital, P.O.Box 1000 Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.
