Fannin County is just a few months away from the doors of Wal-Mart opening. Although they will not be here by this upcoming Black Friday, locals will not have to travel to Blairsville or Ellijay much longer.According to a recent Fannin County Development Authority (FCDA) meeting, the building should be complete and set to open as early as March or April.
What does Wal-Mart mean for the county? Since the official announcement that the store was locating in Fannin, the FCDA has received over ten inquires from other commercial sites about coming to the area.
The FCDA will also use Wal-Mart for recruiting more businesses to come to Fannin as Director Stephanie Scearce attends the International Council of Shopping Centers later in the month.
Scearce let FYN know that having Wal-Mart would be a big draw to other companies that are looking for places to locate.
