The deadline to qualify for running for office for the city of Blue Ridge was today at 4:30 pm. FYN was there at the close of the qualifications to see who would be seeking a position. The candidates seeking the position of Mayor are Donna Whitener who is currently in office and council member Michael Eaton.
The Post 1 council position is the only position that is not contested with the current council member Harold Herndon seeking reelection.
Post 2 candidates include Kathleen Setser and Rhonda Thomas who is seeking to be reelected.
Post 3 positions will be a toss-up between Angela Arp and Freddie Panter.
Currently elected official for Post 4 position Rodney Kendall will go up against Lynda Thompson.
Finally, Post 5 candidates are Bruce Pack and Janie Bearden.
FYN will follow these candidates and report each step between now and Election Day, which will be November 5, 2013.
