Frazier H. “Steve” Newell, age 80 of Mineral Bluff, passed away June 19, 2013. Mr. Newell was born March 13, 1933 in Rochester, New York, to Robert Newell and Ethel Horton Newell. He graduated from Edison Tech High School in Rochester in 1950 and then enlisted in the US Air Force. He served his country for twenty years, including overseas assignments in England and Thule, Greenland before retiring as a Master Sergeant. Afterwards he worked for the government of Prince Georges County, Maryland, managing their data processing. In addition to his family and friends, Frazier enjoyed traveling, camping, genealogy, and rescuing animals. He also enjoyed working with computers and radios.
Frazier was preceded in death by his parents, Robert B. & Ethel D. Newell and a brother, Douglas R. Newell. He is lovingly survived by his wife of nearly 30 years, Martha A. Newell; son, Douglas B. Newell; daughter & son-in-law, Miyako & Steven Schanely; step daughters, Susanne Reilly & Deborah Reilly; step sons, Keith Reilly & William (Marion) Reilly; brother & sister-in-law, Roger B. & Patricia Newell; many grandchildren and multiple cousins.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, June 23, 2013 at 4:00pm in the Henry Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Denise Caldwell officiating. Interment will take place in the Georgia National Cemetery of Canton on Monday, June 24 at 12:30pm.
The family will receive friends at the Henry Cochran Funeral Home on Sunday, June 23rd from 2:00-4:00pm.
