William “Bill” Broderick : Obituary

Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces the death of Mr. William T. Broderick, better known as “Bill”, age 89, of Blairsville, who passed away in the early morning hours on Monday, April 22, 2013, at his home.

Bill was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church of Blairsville. He also served in The Beacon Team, and doing disaster relief. Preceding him in death was four sisters: Fern Brown, Helma Kintner, Mariam Goold, and June Belleville.

Bill leaves behind many friends, and many family members, all of whom will miss him dearly, especially his wife of 68 years, Marilyn Broderick; their children: Kathy Gales and her husband Chris, of Mooresville, North Carolina; Tina Hourihan and her husband George, of Blairsville and Summerville, Florida; Robbin DeYoung and her husband Jack, of Pinebrook Pines, Florida; and Ken Broderick and his wife Susan, of Boone, North Carolina; grandchildren: Michael McGee, Andrea Gooderhan, Kelley Irvin, Daniel Scott, Jacquiline Ermao, Cody DeYoung, Chris Broderick, and Kimberly Broderick; fourteen great grandchildren; and a sister, Muriel Hayward also survives.

Funeral services for Bill have been scheduled for Saturday, April 27, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Blairsville, with Dr. Fred Lodge and Rev. Danny Parris officiating. The body will lie in state at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday morning. Visitation will be at Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville on Friday, April 26, 2013, with the family especially meeting with friends between the hours of 6 until 9 p.m. The family has requested that the deacons of First Baptist Church of Blairsville serve as honorary escort to the family.
