The Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee announces memorial services for Mr. Roy Anderson McGriff of Hiawassee, Georgia who finished his journey well on March 2, 2013.A worship and celebration of his “home going” will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Grace Presbyterian Church, 2310 Young Harris Hwy, Blairsville, GA.
Roy was born in Atlanta, Georgia on January 2, 1926 to Lacy Marion McGriff & Lillian Anderson McGriff. He served in the Army Air Force during WWII as a radio operator/ mechanic and was a home builder in the Atlanta/Roswell/Cumming areas for many years.
He leaves behind a legacy of loyalty, honesty and love for Jesus Christ to his wife of 63 years, Hilda Townsend McGriff; children, Mark McGriff (Donna) & Susan Boyd (Gene); grandchildren, Chase & Kelsey McGriff and ZaneBoyd; and a sister, Lois Maffett. Roy was preceded in death by sister, Edna Wilson and brother, Walter.
