Mrs. Sarah Ethel Arp Swinford, age 105 of Copperhill, passed away January 9, 2013 at the Life Care Center in Ducktown, TN. Mrs. Swinford was born October 17, 1907 in Fannin County GA to the late Charles and Cora Corn. A member of the Hot House Baptist Church , she was preceded in death by husband, Norman Arp, parents, Charles and Cora Corn, one son, Clyde Norman Arp, and two sisters, Leo Howell and Evangeline Swanson. In her spare time, she enjoyed quilting, cooking and gardening, and she loved flowers of all kinds.
Survivors include: granddaughter, Diane (Mike) Burden, granddaughter, Denise (Gene) Nelson, granddaughter, Cynthia (Rene) Godfrey, granddaughter, Carla (Terry) Sparks, sister, Sylvia Odom, eight great-grandchildren, eleven great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 10, 2013 at 7:00 pm at the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Danny Queen officiating. Interment will be Friday, January 11, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Crestlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers include Bart Nelson, Bert Nelson, Zack Godfrey, Jacob Sparks, Joey Sparks and Adam Born.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Thursday before the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hot House Baptist Church.
