Ted Penfield : Obituary

Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee announces the death of Mr. Ted Penfield, age 76, of Hayesville, North Carolina, who passed away Monday, May 14, 2012 in Clay County Care Center in Hayesville.

Mr. Penfield was born in Meadville, Pennsylvania, on June 23, 1935, a son of the late Chauncy and Neva Dodge Penfield. He served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Penfield retired as Street Commissioner, and then built houses in Inglewood, Florida. He moved to Hayesville about five years ago. Mr. Penfield was a kind-hearted, gentle man, and loved to work in his yard, doing gardening and enjoyed watching birds. He was a perfect neighbor; liked to help people, and visit the sick. He was a member of Oak Forest Methodist Church. His parents, and several siblings preceded him in death.

Surviving family members include his wife of 14 years, Mary Penfield; many other relatives and friends also survive.

No services have been planned at this time.
