Blue Ridge Police subdue Out-of-Control Man in Ingles Market

Blue Ridge Police responded to a disturbance in Ingles Market last week.Blue Ridge Police were dispatched to the local Ingles Market after a disturbance call. According to Chief Scearce 2 officers arrived at Ingles after a report of an outraged man being inside the store. The officers arrived to find that the man was yelling and using profanity while walking up and down the grocery isles.

When the officers initially attempted to approach the man he grabbed a pack of 2 steak knives from a shelf. The man then removed the knives from the package and threw 1 knife at officers and then took the other knife and attempted to cut his own throat. At this point officers were able to subdue the man and he was transported and admitted to a local hospital.

Officers suspect the out of control behavior was possibly due to drug use. FYN will update as more information becomes available. Thanks to the quick response by the officers there was no harm caused to any other occupants in the market.
