Fannin Trounces Townes County

The game began at 5.Townes County looked outmatched in their soccer matchup with Fannin. The boy’s squads were the first to face off against each other. Four minutes into the first half, Trey Smith scored the game’s first goal putting Fannin up 1-0. Fannin had control of the ball throughout the game and it showed when David Durham scored another goal for Fannin towards the end of the half, but Fannin broke down defensively and let Townes County score right before halftime, bringing the score to 2-1 Fannin. Fannin came out strong in the second half with Trey Smith, once again, scoring the first goal, pushing Fannin’s lead to 3-1. Townes County did not score again in this game, and Reuben Rosas put the finishing touches on the game, scoring the final goal for fannin. The Rebels took this game 4-1.

By the way Townes County maintained possession of the ball; one would think that they would win this game handedly. The Lady Rebels had another outcome in mind though. Cheyenne Golden scored the first goal of the game for the Lady Rebels, making the score 1-0. Madeline Tipton made a miraculous kick from the 35 yard line to score a second goal for the Lady Rebels, pushing their lead 2-0. Townes County broke away with the ball in their possession looking to score a goal, but Natalie McLaughlin thwarted their attempt by blocking the kick. McLaughlin had three blocked goals in the first half, with Fannin leading 2-0. Townes County scored the first goal of the second half, but Fannin still lead 2-1. Meghan Bennett scored a goal for Fannin in the second half extending their lead 3-1. Natalie McLaughlin, the Goalkeeper, ended the game with 8 blocks helping to attain a victory for the Lady Rebels. The final score was 3-1 in favor of Fannin.
