The Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge announces the death of Mrs. Viola Shell, age 87, of Blue Ridge, GA who passed away Thursday, September 29, 2011 in the Fannin Regional Hospital in Blue Ridge. Mrs. Shell was born in Fannin County, GA on March 12, 1924 to the late Junis Hughes and Louisa Fox Hughes. She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Thomas “Doc” Shell.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Gail and Robert Hardy of Loudon, TN and Judy an Mac McKinney of Mineral Bluff, GA; grandchildren, Becci Hart and her husband Michael Hart, and Beth Milhollin and her husband Dr. James Milhollin; great grandchildren, Thomas Milholloin, Samuel Milhollin, and Robert Milhollin, Victoria Hart, Mathew Hart, and Lily Hart; and brothers, Jack Hughes of Ducktown, TN and Cecil Hughes of Kanapolis, NC.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. from Chastain Memorial Park with Rev. Ed Umbach officiating. Pallbearers will be Toby Rhodes, Roy Conner, Steve McFarland, James Milhollin, Thomas Milhollin, Sam Milhollin, Michael Hart, and Matthew Hart.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:45 p.m. at which time they will depart for the cemetery.
