Simmie Clifford Davenport : Obituary

Mr. Simmie Clifford Davenport, age 73, of McCaysville, GA passed away September 15, 2011 in the Fannin Regional Hospital. Born in Fannin County, GA he was the son of the late Harley G. and Edna Holt Davenport. Mr. Davenport had worked many years for Cities Service and most recently at Tri-State Gas Station. He was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church. Mr. Davenport was also preceded in death by his loving wife of many years, Catherine Ensley Davenport; and one daughter, Mary Gail Mulkey.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Donnie and Renee Davenport and James K. Davenport all of Epworth; sister, Viola Davenport Raper of Ducktown, TN; brothers, Gerald Davenport of Culberson, NC, Harold Davenport of Blue Ridge, GA, Earl Davenport of Jasper, GA, Winston Davenport of McCaysville, GA; four grandchildren, Hanna Davenport, Heath Davenport, Luke Davenport and Holly Patterson.

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday September 18, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brent Chatham, Rev. Delmar Davenport and Rev. Scott Baugh officiating. Music will be provided by Tammy Hall. Interment will follow in the Ensley Family Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: James Ensley, Benny Ensley, David Davenport, Wesley Davenport, Charlie Baugh and Heath Davenport.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Saturday after 2:00 p.m. but especially from 6-9 p.m.
