Update: New & Improved Video Montage Fannin Lady Rebels Summer Camp Report

The Fannin County Lady Rebels’ basketball team attended the basketball camp in Pickens County. The camp featured middle school, freshmen, junior varsity, and varsity basketball teams from over twenty different school systems. The teams scrimmaged against each other in various schools in the Pickens County school system, from the elementary to the high school.

The Lady Rebels’ varsity team began the mission of replacing five senior starters from last years’ sub-region championship team. The young Lady Rebels, missing two seniors due to summer vacations, had to take the floor many times against veteran clubs. The youngsters played tenacious defense throughout, however, struggled finding offensive rhythm and making shots.

Many of the youth Rebels, middle school and junior varsity, had games against older teams, such as a battle between the Fannin eighth grade team, and the Pickens ninth grade team. The younger Rebels gained valuable experience, however, were often overpowered by their older counterparts.

The middle school teams were too, missing some players, as well as trying to incorporate inexperienced players just learning the game.

Overall the Fannin Lady Rebels faired well, especially defensively. The young players can only become veterans via experience, which will be gained throughout various summer camps, and the upcoming season.
