The Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge announces the death of Mrs. Melba Jones, age 76, of Morganton, GA who passed away Wednesday, June 08, 2011 in the Union General Hospital in Blairsville, GA.Mrs. Jones was born in St. Louis, Missouri on January 8, 1935 to the late Willard Vogel and Melba Arensmeyer Vogel. She was a retired teacher, having taught school in Polk County, GA. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Cedartown, GA. She was preceded in death by a grandchild, Morgan Shirley.
She is survived by her husband, William Jones of Morganton; daughters and sons-in-law, Catherine and Tim Kelley of Marietta, GA and Mary and Tommy Stewart of Roswell, GA; sister, Valentine Embry of Indianapolis, Indiana; and three grandchildren, Mary C. Kelley, Thomas Kelley, and Will Shirley.
Graveside services will be conducted Friday, June 10, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. from Chastain Memorial Park. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.akinsfuneralhome.com. Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge is in charge of arrangements.
