MCCAYSVILLE, Ga. — A man wanted on multiple warrants was taken into custody Thursday evening after a tense foot pursuit through McCaysville, according to authorities.

The incident began earlier in the afternoon when officers with the McCaysville Police Department were dispatched to the 2nd Street area following reports of a male subject possibly armed with a gun.

With the assistance of the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office and Fannin County Emergency Management Agency, who deployed drone technology during the search, officers were able to locate and safely apprehend the suspect shortly after 7 p.m. in the Kingtown area.

Authorities said the individual had several active warrants, including felony charges.

His name has not yet been released.

In a statement, McCaysville Public Safety Director and Police Chief Michael Otis Earley thanked the partnering agencies for their “outstanding cooperation and teamwork” and expressed appreciation to residents for their patience and support during the incident.

“Your continued support allows us to keep McCaysville a safe and secure community for all,” Earley said.

No injuries were reported, and the investigation remains ongoing.
