GEORGIA – The Republican primary race for Georgia governor appears headed to a runoff between the leading candidates, Rick Jackson and Burt Jones. With eight candidates in the race, no candidate was able to secure more than 50% of the vote. Jackson and Jones each earned roughly support in the mid-30% range and will now advance to a runoff election set for Tuesday, June 16.
On the Democratic side, voters were able to decide a nominee Tuesday night, with Keisha Lance Bottoms securing roughly 60% of the vote against six other contenders.
Bottoms will now face the winner of the June 16 Republican runoff in the November general election.
