The Fannin County Rebels secured their spot in the GHSA AA State Baseball Playoffs for the third year in a row. Thanks to a fourth-place Region 7AA finish, the Rebels will travel to North Cobb Christian on Thursday to take on the #1-seeded Eagles.

Fannin’s April 19th victory over Haralson County propelled them to an 8-10 Region record, giving them the final playoff spot in the Region over 7-11 North Murray.

Fannin vs Haralson County game three recap:

The scoreboard was lit up early in this Region 7AA contest, as both the Haralson Rebels and Fannin Rebels scored in the first inning. Paul Stroemer gave Fannin a 3-1 lead with a three-RBI double in the bottom of the first, and Fannin would hold that lead the entirety of the ballgame as they took a 4-1 victory over Haralson County.

Mason McDaniel earned the W on the mound for Fannin, allowing 9 hits and one run over 6 and 2/3rds innings while striking out one and allowing zero walks. Gavin Davis collected the final out of the game for Fannin and earned the save.

Gaige Foster and Elijah Weaver led Fannin with 2 hits a piece, while Stroemer led both teams with 3 RBIs.

Durden had some good stuff on the mound for Haralson as he struck out 10 Fannin batters, but the early double from Stroemer was the difference maker as Durden earned the loss on the evening. Haralson will travel to Mount Paran on Thursday for their first round playoff game.
