Courtney Davis’ 24-point night was not enough for the Lady Rebels on Tuesday, as the Model Blue Devils were able to come away with a 43-42 victory in the Region 7AA bout.
The Rebels trailed by 8 at the break, but thanks to a big surge in the second half they were able to knot things up at 41 points apiece thanks to a pair of Reese Lewis free throws. Macy Hawkins went to the line with 1:14 on the clock and made one of two free throws, giving the Rebels a 43-42 lead heading into the final minute of play. Fannin had ample opportunities to put this one away, but the shots just wouldn’t fall. Model eventually drove it inside on a fast break and hit a contested layup, ultimately sealing the deal for the Devils and moving to 8-1 in Region play thanks to the last-second win.
The Lady Rebels moved to 4-2 in the Region and maintained their third-place position.
Courtney Davis led the team with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
Reese Lewis collected a team-high 11 rebounds while tacking on 4 points.
Fannin County will be back in action on Friday as they travel to Gordon Central to take on the Warriors.
