Blue Ridge, GA- The Fannin County Rebels have rattled off 6 wins in a row on the baseball field. Their hot streak started with a 7-1 home victory over Gilmer County, and continued most recently with back-to-back blowout wins over Murray County.
The Rebels will be put to the test this evening when they travel to Highway 515 rival Pickens County to take on the Dragons, who are one of the top-ranked AAA teams in the state of Georgia.
3/15/23: Fannin vs North Murray recap
Sophomore Gavin Davis toed the rubber for the Rebels in last Wednesday’s home bout vs North Murray. Davis’ time spent on the mound was almost picture-perfect, as he gave up one earned run on four hits over five innings. Davis had the fastball working for him as he struck out seven and walked only one on his way to getting the victory.
At the plate, Senior Connor Martin led the way for the Rebels as he went 2-4 on the evening with 2 doubles and an RBI. Fannin got things started early in the first inning when Bryce Burnette scored the first run of the game on a passed ball.
The Rebels took the lead for good in the fourth inning, thanks to an HBP with the bases loaded, a bases-loaded error, a sac fly, and a Connor Martin RBI double.
Fannin will take the field tonight in Pickens County for a non-region matchup with the Dragons, before going on the road to Murray County on Wednesday to get back into Region 7AA play.
