Rebels Win Big in Decisive Region Game

Fannin County now holds a decisive head-to-head tiebreaker over the Mountaineers after winning big at home, 68-42. Fannin County racked up over 500 yards of offense with 463 of them coming on the ground, en route to the Rebels setting the school record for most points scored in a game. Fannin is now 2-1 in region play while North Murray falls to 3-1. Only Rockmart and Model sit ahead of these two in the region standings.

Team Notes

As mentioned, the Rebs really got it going on the ground with 463 yards. Senior Corbin Davenport led the way with 337 yards on 28 carriers resulting in an incredible 12 YPC average and he was able to find the endzone 6 times on the ground. Davenport also passed for 59 yards and a TD. Sophomore Elijah Weaver also threw for a touchdown. Carson Collis and Carson Callihan were able to bring in the two TD passes, while senior Bryson Holloway had a great game on the ground with 2 TDs and 113 yards on 15 carries.

Cooper Born was tied for the team lead in tackles with 7, while also recording a sack. He was tied with Clay Heaton who also brought in an INT.

Look Ahead

Fannin County will now turn their attention to winless Murray County as they hope to avoid the trap game with a big game against Rockmart on the horizon (10/28). The Mountaineers will travel to Model 5-3 (3-1) for a huge region showdown next Friday night.
