News March 30, 2021
BLUE RIDGE, Ga – Fannin County Schools are making counselors available to middle school students after the sudden passing of one of their own.
In a letter released by Superintendent Michael Gwatney and Middle School Principal Keith Nuckolls, they stated, “While our hearts are grieving, we are working as a school family to support everyone through the grief and shock of this tragedy. To help our students and staff members at Fannin County Middle School, we have several counselors currently on site who are meeting with those who express a need to talk. In addition to these trained counselors. members of the coaching staff from Fannin County High School have been at the middle school this morning to offer support to our students. Talking and sharing is a key part of working through the sadness and grief of losing someone. We will have these additional counselors available to support the Fannin County Middle School community – not just today but in the coming days, too.”
Gwatney and Nuckolls called on parents and guardians to talk with their children and if additional grief counseling is necessary to contact the school.
