The Gordon County Warriors traveled to Fannin County last night to take on the Lady Rebels for their second region game of the season. Fannin recently claimed a 69-23 victory over Coosa and hoped to continue the trend and earn their second region win.

Gordon County came out ready to play as they were able to put the ball into action and earn an early lead. The Lady Rebels were having a hard time putting the ball into the basket until Becca Ledford got things started and put Fannin’s first point on the board with a made foul shot. Ledford drove to the basket all night, contributing eleven points to the Rebel’s score overall. The Lady Rebel made a buzzer-beater three-point shot to close out the first quarter as the Warriors had the lead with a score of 15-7.

Fannin began to come to life in the second quarter as they looked down low to Olivia Sisson on the block where she added five points to Fannin’s score. The Warriors continued to put points on the board as they drove to the basket. The Lady Rebel’s three-point game was on fire as Reagan York made one above the key to put Fannin behind by only three points with a score of 23-20. Natalie Thomas was on fire above the key as she scored another three-point shot to tie the game 23-23. Thomas led Fannin in scoring for the night with 15 points overall. Prisila Bautista had grit as she made a three-pointer of her own for Fannin to take a 26-23 lead against the Warriors to go into halftime.

The Lady Rebels continued to extend their lead while the Warriors tried hard to get it back. Gordon County began to foul the Rebels for them to earn more points from the line. Reagan York added more points on the board as she made two free throws. Freshman, Courtney Davis, showed off her ball-handling skills as she drove to the basket and drew fouls to add five points to Fannin’s score and close out the third quarter with a 40-32 lead against the Warriors.

Although they had the lead, Fannin continued to put a full-court press into play and put defensive pressure on Gordon County. Mackenzie Johnson continued to hustle on offense and defense as she put four points on the board for Fannin. Johnson even had a good look inside to Paige Foreseman who added a goal of her own to Fannin’s score. With time on the clock running out, the Rebels continued to play aggressively and closed out the game with a 52-46 victory over the Gordon County Warriors.
