Last night, Greater Atlanta Christian (14-11, 10-2 Region 7-AAA) traveled to Fannin County to take on the Lady Rebels (16-9, 6-6 Region 7-AAA) for their senior night. Although Fannin fought hard until the end, the Lady Spartans ran away with their second region victory against the Rebels with a score of 66-53.
The Rebels got the ball from tipoff and came out ready to play. The Spartans were the first to put points on the board as they looked inside to their posts. Senior Saidee Collins and sophomore Reagan York made their own mark from the post for Fannin. York showed off her moves as she added 12 points to Fannin’s score while Collins contributed eight. Although Fannin was working hard on the block, GAC took an 18-11 lead to close out the first quarter.
Fannin had hustle to start off the second quarter. Becca Ledford rushed past the defense as her and York led Fannin in scoring for the night with 12 points each. Senior Morgan Holt pushed through the defense to add five points to the Rebels score before she endured an injury and had to sit out for the rest of the game. Fannin was trailing right behind the Spartans as they went into halftime with a 26-20 lead.

Although GAC had the lead, Fannin refused to give up. Mackenzie Johnson was spunky on defense as she drew fouls and added one point to Fannin’s score from the free throw line. The Spartans continued to apply their heavy defense as they put a full court press into action and kept working Fannin until a buzzer sounded on their 66-53 victory. Fannin’s loss puts their overall record at 16-9 and their region record at 6-6.
