Last night, the Fannin Rebels (5-17, 0-11 Region 7-AAA) traveled to East Hall to take on the Vikings (6-15, 2-8 Region 7-AAA) for their second matchup of the season. The Rebels had previously lost to the Viking and hoped to earn a region victory, but fell short and endured a 67-46 loss.

It was a low scoring yet fast paced first quarter as Fannin got the ball from tipoff. Fannin had luck looking inside to their posts for points while East Hall did the same. Miles Johnson was the one to lead Fannin in scoring for the night as he earned nine points overall. Jalen Ingram followed the seniors lead as he had grit under the goal and contributed seven points to Fannin’s score. Brady Martin also showed off his moves where he added seven points of his own. It was a close game as the Vikings closed out the first quarter with a 9-6 lead.

The Vikings 3 point game came alive to start the second quarter. While East Hall made their mark above the key, Fannin focused on driving the ball to the basket. Cohutta Hyde showed off his ball handling skills as he drove through the defense to earn a basket. Landon Norton was able to do the same and contribute four of his own points. East Hall managed to extend their lead with a score of 32-21 to go into half time.

Kaeden Twiggs played a great game just returning from an injury as he made his way to the basket and added eight points to Fannin’s score. Andre Bivens showed off his hustle and contributed four points of his own to the Rebel’s score. As Fannin kept driving to the basket, East Hall was able to draw fouls and make their free throws to keep their lead and go into the fourth quarter with a score of 45-35.

Fannin began to get aggressive on offense as they were able to draw fouls and make free throws to add to their score. Jordan Bennett was 100% on his foul shots for the night as he added four points to Fannin’s score. Jerritt Holloway followed the sophomores lead as he added a point of his own from the free throw line. Despite Fannin’s fight until the end, East Hall ran away with a 67-46 victory against the Rebels.

When being asked about the team’s performance in the game, Jordan Bennett replied, “I’m proud of our team for the way that we fight. No matter what the score is, we never give up until the buzzer sounds.” Fannin’s loss puts their overall record at 5-17 and their region record at 0-11.
