Mattie Bell Wilcox: Obituary

Mrs. Mattie Bell Wilcox, age 87, of Turtletown, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2019. She was born on October 29, 1931 in Cherokee County, NC to the late William Judd Morgan and Mamie Deavers Morgan. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church. Mattie enjoyed quilting and being independent. She loved her family and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also preceded in death by her husband, James Fred Wilcox.

She is survived by her sons, Melburn C. Wilcox of Cleveland and Rex (Kathy) Wilcox of Turtletown; grandchildren, Tonya Wilcox (Clint Howell), Brittany (Matt) Jordan, and Alvin (Stephanie) Wilcox; great-grandchildren, Colt Colvin, Kadence Howell, Ashley Howell, Oakley Howell, and Brayden Wilcox; and sister, Maggie Patterson of Michigan.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 2:00 PM from the Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill Chapel with Rev. Mitchell Allen, Rev. Paul Ray Morgan, and Rev. Randall Payne officiating. Music will be provided by Rev. Paul Ray and Linda Morgan and Rev. Randall and Gracie Payne. Interment will follow in the Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Jason Farner, Matt Jordan, Clint Howell, Mike Pickelsimer, Bobby Joe Dunn, and Larry Farner will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Pickelsimer, Jr., Hershel Raper, Tony Wooten, Randall Allen, Randy Payne, Troy Wells, and Alvin Wilcox. The family will visit with friends at the funeral home on Friday Evening from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and on Saturday from until the service hour.
