Project Chimps to Host “Primates in Paradise” Benefit at Paradise Hills Resort

Blairsville, GA – Local residents and visitors are invited to swing into Paradise Hills Resort for “Primates in Paradise,” an evening of wine, music and fun to benefit Project Chimps, a sanctuary for former research chimpanzees, located in north Georgia. The benefit event will be held Friday, September 27, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Paradise Hills Winery Resort & Spa in Blairsville.

Benefit tickets are $30 per person and include complimentary appetizers and desserts from Harvest on Main, and a glass of wine in a keepsake Project Chimps stemless wine glass.  Additional drink tickets can be purchased at the event.

The event includes a silent auction with items including sanctuary tours, restaurant gift certificates, art and jewelry, and outdoor adventures. The benefit is open to adults age 21 and older. Tickets may be purchased or at the door.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the 59 chimpanzees who live at the Project Chimps sanctuary in Morganton. Project Chimps is located on 236-acres of forested land in the Blue Ridge Mountains of north Georgia, and is currently home to 59 chimpanzees who range in age from 8 to 34. The sanctuary, which is privately funded, provides former laboratory chimpanzees the opportunity to forage, play and socialize, much like their cousins do in the wild.

Project Chimps is a sanctuary and therefore not open to the public except for limited engagements which sell out months in advance. The sanctuary’s next major event will be October 25-27, when Project Chimps hosts its Halloween-themed “Chimp or Treat” event for families. There are more ways to visit the sanctuary. Learn more at projectchimps.org/visit/. ###

Project Chimps is the newest chimpanzee sanctuary in the United States and was founded to provide lifetime care to former research chimpanzees at its sanctuary on 236 acres of forested land in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Project Chimps is a 501 (C) (3) non-profit organization and is accredited charity by the Better Business Bureau. The sanctuary has achieved Guidestar Platinum status and is additionally accredited by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries (GFAS) and a member of the North American Primate Sanctuary Alliance (NAPSA).
