Michelle Lea Campbell Sowers: Obituary

Lt. Michelle Lea Campbell Sowers of Blue Ridge, GA, passed away on Tuesday August 20, 2019 at the age of 44, following an extended battle with cancer. Michelle was born on April 19, 1975 in Copperhill, TN. She is the daughter of Derryl and Diane Parker. Michelle leaves behind two sons, Tyler Robertson and Aden Self. She was blessed with a beautiful daughter-in-law, Kaylee. Her greatest joy was her granddaughter, Mia. Michelle also leaves behind her brother and sister-in-law, Jamie and Crystal Campbell; brother, Creed Parker; and a sister, Brianna Parker. One of Michelle’s favorite past times was spoiling her nieces and nephews, Haley and Cody Falls, Zack Campbell, Kharcee Hughes, Abby Campbell, Lexi Jeffers and Daniel Gibson. Michelle was preceded in death by her grandparents, Rev. and Mrs. Charlie Jones, and aunt, Janet Jacobs.

Michelle served the residents of Fannin County for 17 years as a Paramedic/Firefighter. She also served as a Deputy Coroner for Fannin County. She devoted her life to serving others. Michelle loved Clemson football, Bon Jovi, the Golden Girls, Jeep rides, the color purple, Coca-Cola, grape bubble gum, Chicken Salad Chicks cookies, Fruit Loops and strawberry sundaes. During her 7 year battle with cancer, Michelle continued to wear a smile on her face. When asked how she was, she would answer, “Good” and turn the conversation to the other person. She was selfless. Michelle will forever be remembered for her servants heart, love for others, infectious smile, contagious laugh, big hair and love for Sugar!!

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, August 23, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. from the Bethel Church with Rev. Doug Payne officiating. Music will be provided by Raven Welch Harris and Jeremy Payne. Interment will follow in the Copper Ridge Memory Gardens Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Bobby Long, Joey Cox, Cody Falls, Drake Pugh, Creed Parker, Zackary Campbell, Devin Aaron and Nikki Highley. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Fannin County Fire and Fannin County EMS, Darrell Payne and Larry Thomas. A Fireman’s Last Call will be provided by the Fannin County Fire Department. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5-9 p.m. For those desiring memorial contributions may be made to the Michelle Sowers Memorial Fund, c/o Nikki Highley or Devin Aaron at the United Community Bank in Blue Ridge, GA. These funds will be used to carry out Michelle’s Ministry of helping others in the community during their time of need. Condolences may be sent to the family online at akinsfuneralhome.com.
