John Kenneth Parrish, Sr.

July 18, 1929 – May 11, 2019

John Kenneth (Ken) Parrish, Sr.,89, of Epworth, Georgia, passed away peacefully at home on May 11, 2019. He was born to parents Edward Parrish and Lillian Halsall Parrish on July 18, 2019 in Providence, Rhode Island. He grew up in West Palm Beach, Florida and graduated from Palm Beach High School and LSU graduate school of banking. He started his banking career at First National Bank of Lake Worth and was in Senior Management with First Marine Bank, Barnett Bank and Bank of America. He ended his banking career by moving to Murphy, North Carolina as President of People’s Bank of Murphy, North Carolina. He and Margie then retired and moved to Epworth, Georgia to a home he designed and built. He married the love of his life, Marjorie Gleason, in 1956. Margie was laid to rest in 2006. Ken cherished his children, grandchildren, friends and favorite dog, Buddy. Ken and Margie were members of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Blue Ridge.

He is survived by his children, John Kenneth Parrish, Jr. (Kelly) of Jupiter, Florida and Nancy L. Blais (Paul) of Blue Ridge, Georgia. He has four grandchildren: Matthew H. Parrish (Christina), Samantha C. Kitchen (AJ), Kimberly Chute (Chad) and Christopher Barra.

A private Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2019. Mr. Parrish will be interred at Copper Ridge Memorial Gardens in Blue Ridge, Georgia. Donations may be made in Memory of John Kenneth Parrish to Homestead Hospice, 97 Deep South Farm Road, Unit 2, Blairsville, Georgia 30512. Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge is in charge of arrangements.
