Obituary: Gene Alvin Campbell III

Gene Alvin Campbell III, age 46 of Mineral Bluff, passed away at Erlanger Medical Center on April 16, 2019. After a lifetime of kidney issues and related medical challenges, his body was tired and an eternity of peace awaited him. Gene was born on September 13, 1972 at CBMC and resided in Fannin County his entire life.

Gene is preceded in death by his father: Gene Alvin Campbell, Jr; grandparents: Alvin and Lucille Johnson Campbell of Gravely Gap and Willard and Mary Queen Tritt of Suches. Gene is survived by his Mother: Sharon Campbell and David Barnes; Sister: Stephanie Campbell and Greg Brooks; the light of his life, daughter: Kailey Campbell, all of Mineral Bluff and special childhood friend, Wesley Huffman.

Gene was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Mineral Bluff. He enjoyed hunting for treasures at flea markets, cooking and lending a helping hand to anyone in need. His passion was classic cars and he was a member of the WPA (we piddle around) at the garage where he hung out and tinkered on car projects.

Gene’s body will be cremated. A simple memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 23rd at 5 pm at the Akins Funeral Home Chapel in Copperhill, TN. Rev. Randy Hooper will bring the message and music will be provided by Greg Brooks. The family will meet with friends Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until the service hour. The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to his daughter, Kailey. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
