Obituary: Arthur Frank Byrne, III

Mr. Arthur Frank Byrne, III, age 62, of Murphy, NC went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 10, 2019 in the Union General Hospital. He was born in September 26, 1956 in Milford, CT to the late Arthur Frank Byrne, Jr. Art was retired from the United States Navy as a Diesel Engineer attaining the rank of Chief Petty Officer. After retiring from the Navy he served in the Merchant Marines. He was a proud and devoted member and Past Commander of the American Legion Post 82 in Ellijay, GA.

Survivors include his loving wife, Susanne “Susie” Byrne; children, Nathaniel Byrne, Bianca Byrne and Bryan Byrne; step-daughter, Tracy Moore; mother, Corinne “Connie Byrne; sister, Roni Byrne Sullivan (Richard); five grandchildren; a very special friend and brother, R.T. Bruce; and the American Legion Post #82 Family.
Preceding him in death is one son, Arthur Frank Byrne, IV.

Art and Susie were only married for two and a half years but he always remarked to his friends, that she’s the “Best Wife Ever”.

Memorial services were conducted on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel in Blue Ridge, GA with Chaplain Pat Buchanan officiating. Interment followed in the Georgia National Cemetery with full military honors provided by the United States Navy at 3:00 p.m. The Funeral procession from Blue Ridge to Georgia National Cemetery was led by the Patriot Guard and the American Legion Riders. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital at www.stjude.org. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.akinsfuneralhome.com. Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge was in charge of the arrangements.
