2019 SUMMER MEAL PROGRAM
FEEDING FANNIN CHILDREN
Faith Presbyterian Church, Family Connection and Snack in a Backpack have joined together to collaborate and offer a free Summer Meal Program for Fannin children in need ages 18 and under. We invite all local churches, area food programs, community organizations, and caring citizens to assist us in providing food insecure children in Fannin County with a nutritious meal over the summer school break.
62.29%* of the children in Fannin county are eligible for free and reduced-cost breakfast/and or lunch during the school year. These families need to find a way to replace those meals during summer break. The goal of ‘The 2019 Summer Meal Program’ is to provide healthy, nutritious meals to these children during the summer break. Summer nutrition will help prepare our children to go into the next school year energized and ready to learn.
Our goal is to provide 600 deliveries a week during the 8-week summer break period, starting June 3rd. We will need the following help to meet this goal.
- Volunteers are needed to help with packing and delivery.
- Packers are needed on Mondays to pack the meal bags.
- Deliveries will be to approximately 10 site specific locations within the county and are planned for Mondays and Thursdays.
HUNGER DOESN’T TAKE A SUMMER VACATION! With your help, we can make a difference in the life of a child in Fannin County. To volunteer or request additional information on ‘The 2019 Summer Meal Program’, please contact:
