The Rebels of Fannin High School opened up a 3 game series with the Tigers of Dawson last Tuesday in Dawsonville.
Each team put up a run in the first inning to get the game started in game one. The home team Tigers added runs to the board in the second and sixth for three runs while Fannin added runs in the third and fifth to carry a tie into extra innings. The Rebels came alive in the top of the eighth with 3 walks and a single aided by a sacrifice fly and a Tiger error to put up 3 game winning runs. Fannin had five hits in the game by Beavers, Buchannan, Kendall, Gray, and Shirah each with one. Beavers, Buchannan, Shirah had an RBI a piece with Rogers knocking in 2 runs for the Rebels. The Dawson Tiger runs were put on the board by Sapp, Lewis, and Kelly on 3 hits in the game. The Tigers committed 3 errors and the Rebels had 4 errors on the night.
Both teams sent 2 pitchers to the hill in the extra inning game. For the Tigers, K. Kelly got the start and went 7 innings on 109 pitches allowing three runs(two earned) on four hits, four walks, and seven strikeouts. P. Goodwin came in as relief to throw 19 pitches in 1 inning. He gave up three runs(one earned) on 1 hit and 3 bases on balls, and no strikeouts. Goodwin was credited ith the loss. On the Fannin side, B. Rogers stepped to the mound as the starter. Rogers threw 113 pitches in his 5 and two-thirds innings with three runs on three hits five walks and ten strikeouts befor handing the baseball over to Hunter Gray. In two and one-third innings, Gray three strikeouts and three walks on 56 pitches for the win. These same two teams will meet up again on Friday in doubleheader action starting time set at 5:30.
