The Fannin Rebels traveled to Dahlonega last week for game one of a 3 game region series with the Indians of Lumpkin County. Fannin has continued with the great start and this game was no different.
The Indians took their first and only lead in the bottom half of the first as B. Chastain took off from third base and stole home. Over the next six innings of play, Lumpkin would add 5 hits to their side of the scoreboard managing to plate just one more run. On the mound for the Rebels, Kendall and Rogers combined to shut down the Indians’ batters. The pair threw 102 pitches(88 for Kendall and 14 for Rogers) and recorded 6 strikeouts. Rogers was perfect in his one and one-third of work with 3 K’s.
Fannin kept a zero on the board up until the third inning with 2 runs. Carrying a 1 run lead into the bottom half of the fourth, the Rebels added 5 more to seal the deal over the Indians by a score of 7-2. The Fannin bats produced the 5 runs on 8 hits led by G. Buchannon. The Rebel third baseman went 2 for 3 on the day with a run scored and 1 RBI. adding their names to the hit list in the game was Beavers, Kendall, Gray, Shirah, Norton, and Holloway. These two teams met at Fannin for a doubleheader on Friday night to finish the region series.
