Lester Paul Nickle III

September 20, 1943 – January 18, 2019

Lester Paul Nickle, III, age 75, of Copperhill, passed away January 18, 2019, at Fannin Regional Hospital. Mr. Nickle was born September 20, 1943, in Harrisburg, PA to the late Lester P Nickle, Jr. and the late Janet Mae Schaeffer Nickle. He was a member of Member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Postelle, TN. Mr. Nickle served six years in the US Navy and worked at Lockheed Georgia Plant for five years. He served as Men’s Sunday School teacher, a custodian, and a deacon at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He also served as a deacon at Virginia Avenue Baptist Church in Atlanta, GA, and Northeast Baptist Church in Doraville, GA. Lester was a past Master Mason in the W.D. Luckie Lodge No. 89 F.&A.M. in Hapeville, GA and was a current member of the Ducktown Masonic Lodge No. 241 F&AM. He was a member of the Oglethorpe Chapter No. 122 of Eastern Star; Knights Templar of Georgia Atlanta Commandery No. 09; Grand Council of Georgia R. & S.M. Euclid Council No. 33, Grand Chapter of Georgia R.A.M. Mt. Horeb Chapter No. 155. He was a hobbyist and collector of many things which brought him much joy. Mr. Nickle was preceded in death by his Father, Lester P Nickle, Jr., and mother, Janet Mae Schaeffer Nickle.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Dale Nickle, brother, Fred Schaeffer Nickle, sister, Patricia Nickle Richert, sister, Judith Nickle Jacobson, several nieces and nephews, and several great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services: Monday, January 21, 2019, at 11:00 AM at the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Jenkins officiating. Music provided by Amy Dale and Shelia Owenby. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Postelle, TN. Pallbearers: Bradley Dale, Matthew Dale, Derrick Dale, Noah Dale, Daniel Dale, Justin Dale, Micah Dale, Larry Dye. Military honors will be by the North Georgia Honor Guard and Masonic rights by Ducktown Masonic Lodge No. 241 F&AM.

The family will receive friends at the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home of McCaysville Sunday evening, January 20, 2019, from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM.
