Trojans Sneak Win Over Rebels

This past Tuesday, the North Hall Lady Trojans traveled to Fannin County to take on the Lady Rebels for the second time this season. Fannin looked to redeem themselves from the first time they played the Trojans and endured a 49-43 loss.

North Hall started with the ball where they were quick to put points on the board. Sophomore, Abby Ledford, led Fannin in scoring for the night with sixteen points overall with her hustle. The Trojans played in a heavy defense where they pressed Fannin. The Rebels were able to break the press and claim a 15-12 lead over the Trojans to end the first quarter.

The Trojans picked up their defense in the second quarter and kept Fannin from scoring any points. As they held Fannin, they made a three point shot to take a 17-15 lead. The Lady Trojans continued to add to their score as they passed up the court and made layups. Saidee Collins and Emily Beavers were an asset to the game on the block where they each added to the Rebels score. Beavers made her way outside of the key where she added a three point shot to Fannins score. Collins got aggressive and drew fouls to earn one point from the free throw line. North Hall kept their lead over Fannin to go into halftime with a score of 21-15.

Fannin Senior, Maleah Stepp, was on fire with her outside shots as she added ten points to the Rebels score for the night. Holt followed the trend as she scored five points for the night. The Rebels changed to a zone defense to start the third quarter in hopes of making it harder for North Hall to make it to the basket. Olivia Sisson pushed her way through the defense where she was able to add three points to Fannins score. Even as the Rebels pressed the Trojans, they broke through it and kept adding to their score. North Hall closed out the the third quarter with a 35-28 lead over the Rebels.

Fannin kicked it into high gear to start off the fourth quarter. Prisila Bautista stole the ball on defense then drove it back up the court to find Reagan Henderson wide open to make a shot on the block to put Fannin two points behind the Trojans with a score of 38-36. Bautista contributed two points to Fannin’s score for the night while Henderson added four. Stepp got a rebound from a missed shot on the other side of the court and drove it all the way back to Fannin’s goal for a layup to tie the game 38-38. The Trojans quickly responded as they dove the ball back to their basket for a layup to take a 40-38 lead. North Hall continued to add to their score while Fannin was able to add only a few more points. Despite their hustle at the end, the Lady Trojans claimed a 58-44 victory over Fannin. The Lady Rebels loss put their overall record at 6-14 and their region record at 3-5.
