Otis Walter Melton

Otis Walter Melton, age 86 of Copperhill passed away on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 in Copperhill, TN. He was born on October 30, 1932 in Blue Ridge, GA to the late Allan Monroe Melton and Nola Simmonds Melton. He was a member of McCaysville Church of God, served as deacon, served on pastor’s counsel and was a greeter. Otis worked as a mechanic for Pack’s Service Station for many years and at Collis Hardware in McCaysville. He was an avid outdoorsmen. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Otis was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Eva Burnette and Edna Sissum.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ellen Melton of Copperhill, TN; daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte (Rick) Curtis of Copperhill, TN; son, Allan Melton of Copperhill, TN; two sisters, Ethel (Lemman) Davenport of Blue Ridge, GA and Estalee Simmonds of Dahlonega, GA; five grandchildren, Michelle (Aaron) Lewis, Kelly (Nathan) Henson, Brett (Ashley) Curtis, Michael (Sandy) Melton and Jason (Nickee) Melton; nine great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, December 21, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. from McCaysville Church of God with Rev. Steve Lamb and Rev. Brett Curtis officiating. Music will be by Dewayne Housley, Roy Tipton and Bev. Whitmer. Interment will follow in the Bethel Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Melton, Jason Melton, Levi Melton, Nathan Henson, Brody Henson, Aaron Lewis, Michael Lewis and Blake Satterfield. Honorary Pallbearers will be Butch Pittman, Jerry Pack, Joe Pack, Jacky Pack, Larry Collis and Men of McCaysville Church of God. The family will visit with friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
