Panthers Claw Rebels

On the last Friday in November, the Fannin County Rebels took on Union County for their first home game of the season. The Rebels had just come from a loss the game prior and were looking to redeem themselves with a win.

Fannin started off solid until their temper started to get the best of them. Cohutta Hyde was only on the floor for four minutes until he was given two technical fouls and removed from the game. Union had a great defense where they only allowed Fannin to score one basket in the first quarter. Jaylen Ingram scored the two points for the Rebels with his four overall for the night. The Panthers claimed an early lead over the Rebels and closed out the first quarter with a score of 19-2.

Kaeden Twiggs led Fannin in scoring for the night with six points, four of them being from free throws. Gavin Myers also made foul shots for Fannin where he added one point to Fannin’s score. While the Rebels made foul shots, Union scored their points from outside the key. While Fannin had no three point shots for the night, Union had five. The Panthers extended their lead over the Rebels with a score of 28-7 going into halftime.

Andre Bivens showed off his ball handling skills as he broke through the Panthers full court press to score four points. Bivens had some great passes inside to Nathaniel Garrison who also contributed four points to Fannin’s score for the night. Rebel senior, Joel Kinser, got rebounds down low where he put five points on the board. Union continued to score off of their press and put the score at 50-17 to end the third quarter.

Despite Fannin trying their best to score on Unions defense, they were unable to catch up to the Panthers. 56-24 was the final score of the game with Union walking away victorious. The Rebel’s loss put their overall record at 2-4 and the Panthers at 2-1.
