William Gary Ray: Obituary

William Gary Ray, age 67 of Mineral Bluff, passed away on Friday, July 27, 2018 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, GA. He was born on August 17, 1950 in McCaysville to the late Jack Ray and Clara Craig Ray Pierce. Gary was of the Baptist Faith. He served in the United States Army. Gary was an automobile body repairmen. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Willie Ray.

He is survived by wife, Donna Stanley Ray of Mineral Bluff, GA; daughter, Amanda Ray (Scott) DeCasper of Blairsville, GA; granddaughter, Taylor Scott DeCasper of Blairsville; brother, Jimmy Ray of Blue Ridge, GA; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, July 30, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Stanley Ritter officiating. Music will be by Paula Ray Culver.  Interment will follow in the (Flint Hill) New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Sammy Stanley, Randy Helton, Junior Taylor, Frankie Ray, Raymond Long and Randall Dilbeck. The family will visit with friends at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour of 1:00 p.m. Flowers are accepted, but if you wish donations may be made to help defray final expenses. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.akinsfuneralhome.com. Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge is in charge of the arrangements.
