Wayne Paul Jones, Sr. “Butch”: Obituary

Wayne Paul Jones, Sr. “Butch” age 76, of Copperhill, TN passed away on Sunday, July 1, 2018 in Chattanooga, TN. Butch was born on January 13, 1942 in Copperhill, TN to the late August R. Jones and Pauline Patterson Jones. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. “Butch” was a member of Mount Harmony Baptist Church, Polk County Democratic Party, American Legion Post 96, Ducktown Masonic Lodge #241 F&AM, Alhambra Shrine/El-Kahar Shrine Club, Cedar Rapids IA. He retired from the Tennessee Chemical Company as a superintendent in the Smelter Department. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joan M. Jones; sister, Barbara Jones McGill and grandson, Jacob X. Jones.

He is survived by wife, Patricia Ann Fisher Jones of Copperhill, TN; two sons, Wayne “Butch” Jones, Jr. of Cedar Rapids, IA and Andrew “Andy” Jones of Copperhill, TN; cousin and dear friend, Gail Keck; two granddaughters, Celeste Jones and Ansleigh Jones and three great-grandchildren, Madden Beach, Jerzee Beach and Danner Payne.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, July 5, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. from Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill Chapel with Rev. Roger Hyatt, Rev. Tim Godfrey and Rev. Matthew McDaniel officiating. Interment will follow in the Crestlawn Cemetery with full military honors by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Steve Gaddis, Dale Ray, Mike Cochran, David Osborne, Mark Raper and Barry Nix. Honorary Pallbearers will be Chuck Foster, Kam Hudder, Wayne Keck, American Legion Post #96, Ducktown Masonic Lodge #241 F&AM, Alhambra Shrine/El-Kahar, Shrine Club, Cedar Rapids, IA. The family will visit with friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. followed by a Masonic Service at 8:00 p. m.
