Lily Carolyn Hembree: Obituary

Lily Carolyn Hembree, affectionately known by everyone as “Granny,” went home to be with the Lord on July 2, 2018. She was born in Ducktown, TN to Albert Garfield Cross and Lola Mae Carter Cross. She retired from Polk County Homemakers. She was of the Holiness faith and attended Mercy Tabernacle in Benton and Staffordtown Holiness Church in Copperhill, TN.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Howard David Hembree; her parents; brothers, Steve Cross, David Cross, and infant brother, Eulonds Cross; son-in-law, Kenneth Knotts, and brother-in-laws, Paul Collins and Monroe Harris.

She is survived by her children, Scott (Hazel) Hembree of Benton and Connie Knotts of Copperhill; grandchildren, Jon-David Hembree, Micah Thomas, and Dakota Knotts; great-grandchildren, Jaxon Hembree, Aiden Baker, and Carla Crump; sisters, Dora Collins of Copperhill, Lavaida Harris of Gastonia, NC, Louise Thompson of Benton, and Margaret Franklin of Copperhill; sister-in-law, Norma Lee Cross of Copperhill, TN; special friend, Deyo Mashburn; and many other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Carolyn’s Life will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill Chapel. Brother Richard West and Preacher John W. McCann will officiate. Music will be provided by the White Dove Messengers. Interment will follow in the Hembree Family Cemetery with Brother Justin Payne officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Jon-David Hembree, Micah Thomas, Dakota Knotts, Ron Hembree, Jeff Collins, Gabriel Sanders, and Ty Hembree. Honorary pallbearers will be Zach and Shalah White, John Stinnett, Floyd Blackwell, G.W. Sanders, Tyke Prince, and Dean Stinnett.
