Betty Jean Verner: Obituary

Betty Jean Verner, age 83, of Turtletown, TN, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2018. Betty was a native of the Copper Basin area and was a daughter of the late Wilford and Zora Mary Dale Jones. She was a member of the Friendship Chapter 499 O.E.S. and Martha Chapter 246 O.E.S. She attended the Farner Presbyterian Church in Farner, TN and the Kinser Church of God in Cleveland, TN. She owned and operated the Ducktown Florist for over thirty years. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Fred Verner.

She is survived by children, Frederick (Denise) Verner of Cleveland, TN, Deanie (Roger) Thomasson of Turtletown, TN, Gayle (David) Duggan of Calhoun, TN, Angila (Scott) Barker of Copperhill, TN; seven grandchildren, David, Morton, Jeremy Barker, Jonathan Barker, Dedra Verner West, Daniel Verner, Missy Thomasson, and Bill Thomasson; seven great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. from the Akins of Copperhill Chapel with Rev. Guinn Green officiating. Music will be by Rev. Guinn & Anita Green and the Barker Brothers. Pallbearers include Daniel Verner, Jeremy Barker, Jonathan Barker, David Morton, Zackery Waters and Brandon Manbridge. Graveside services will follow in the Farner Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Rev. Luke Hall officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Condolences to the family may be sent to www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
